Pegs of love

I was at the flea market last weekend. There is a stall which I frequently patronize, they sell loose pendants from broken earrings, chains or bracelets. Sounds like junk but there are gems to be found in such stalls. I was looking for butterflies for a decorative wooden pegs project for a dear friend’s party. I found several butterfly pendants there though not many. Below are pictures of the pendants I got put on the wooden pegs. The other embellishments are ribbons and flower beads.

Wicker Candle baskets

Wicker pouches with scented candles – these are some of the door gifts I have prepared for an upcoming party. Some sequiens and beads can add a lovely touch to a mundane weave. Colours make it a lot more interesting and pretty too.

Hatful of goodies

A favour most suitable for the “Gone with the Wind” era. This was a wedding favour from a wedding my parents attended. It opens up to candies and mint. Lovely. Definitely a well made one, and definitely a handful of work required.

Jewelled Jar

Ok, I think I have a fetish for used glass bottles and jars. They are indispensable from my home. It’s exciting just thinking what these solid transparent containers can store. Salt, spices, candle and all that jam. My idea though is to re-use smaller jars to store trinkets and jewellery. Common it is that when we give a little jewel something to friends, it’s in a box. For most big blings, yes, a box is quite necessary. I thought perhaps a jar would suffice for smaller trinkets, and the presentation in a jar does look fresher than the norm. The original jar had a plastic green lid hence it was not very aesthetically pleasing. So I took the aluminium base of a tea light candle and cap over as the new lid. Quite interesting it was for me to realise that the jar opening diameter is of the same size with that of the tea light candle base. Alternatively, a cork would do a good job too. Finally for the embellishment, I took a fancy pendant from a broken earring and had it hung on a copper wire. The wire was then wrapped around the jar. The wire ends were twirled tight and formed into a little knot.

Choc wraps

Chocolates… these sinfully delectable cocoa bars are great gifts but often they are wrapped like one would do wrapping a book. My personal preference is wrapping over the original chocolate wrapper, expose the foil and finally tie with a ribbon. *YUM* (Makes a great party favour if your table needs more vibrant colours or shades)

Angelus

A quote reads, “A gathering of angels can enlighten the whole world”. Inspired by these creatures of light, I made this paper cut-out of an angel to hold/wrap a giveaway tea-light candle. Great for simple christening/first communion favour.
