Candleglow

When I get to attend wedding receptions, apart from the bride, I like to capture decors. This is one from a recent friend’s wedding at Nikki Hotel. Isn’t it lovely…

Light-hearted reflection

Here’s a simple decorative project of transforming a plain mirror border to something light-hearted and simplistic. Firstly, I spray painted the border to white, its original colour was beech brown. Have the mirror as well as edges masked so that the spray does not fall on those areas. Next, find some interesting paper prints. I got mine from a paper store. Cut out the decorative elements and arrange them on the border to your liking. Glue them on the border with clear polysterene glue. The next part I wanted to add surface texture to the white border. So I took white plastic rafia and roped around the frame in a repetitive line work and secure them behind the frame. Finally, coat the entire border with clear lacquer for protection and gloss. A light-hearted reflection is what you get :)

Daisy glow

Preparing for house parties can be an elaborate yet busy affair. First, for food preparation, you’ve got the buying, cutting, cooking and lot’s of tasting to get it right. By the time all is done, barely enough time for decorations! Here’s a simple and quick way which saved me time on decor. I had a candle and glass vase at home. Put them together and add some daisies, you get a simple do with a charming glow.

Wedding wreath

Last weekend was a lovely one. I attended a garden wedding reception by the beach in Penang. It was a small little gathering yet a truly memorable one. To Siong and Sayaka, congratulations! Of all the beautiful things and moments, this flower wreath got my attention. I love it to bits and it was the first thing I captured of the wedding reception.

Flower Lollies

At the grocery store one day, I stumbled upon my all-time favourite childhood candy, Chupa Chups. Is not that I do not see it other days, but on that particular day, I had an inspiration. So, I plucked three lollies from the counter, added them to my groceries, paid and left for home. It’s probably 20 years or more since I last had one of these. Before I rekindle the taste of my childhood delight, here’s what I made with them…

Flower lollies. I used foamie sheets, slightly thick ones and cut them to the shape of a flower. Make a hole in the centre of the foamie cut-out and push the lolly-pop stick through it. No glue or tape is necessary. A great zesty fun decor for any child’s party.

Essence of a bottle

There was a time I purchased boxes of Brand’s Chicken Essence. So basically, the chicken essence comes packed individually in little glass bottles, labelled and has a gold lid each. Typically, after consumption, mom would throw the glass bottles away, her excuse being less junk is good. :) This time around, I secretly kept some. Haha. Finally after some months, I picked one up for a “creative make-over”! Here’s the result.

Mint in tin

Once, I attended a party and the entree’ was Bruschetta. Lovely. For someone who loves tomatoes and garlic, that ought to be the best meal for me to start with. But with much regrets later of garlic breath , I wished the host had mints on the lavishing table. Here’s a quick, chic and fresh way to present mints to your dear guests. (in little baking cups!)

Green bouquet

Often we see flowers in vases as centrepieces for dinner decor. I thought perhaps for a change, we could use some leafy veg greens instead. Try putting up some green bouquets near the salad bar! A good reminder, to keep the veg fresh before attempting to display.
